Drones
ActivePhotography, flight & autonomy
Drones started as a way to put a camera anywhere I wanted. I use them for aerial photography, cinematic video, FPV, and experimenting with the idea of the perfect flying cameraman: one that can follow, frame, and film without needing a pilot behind every shot.
The autonomy experiments are where things get interesting. Long term, I want a drone that can understand its surroundings, navigate on its own, interact with the physical world and, eventually, find an avocado on a tree and bring it back to me.
The perfect cameraman doesn't need a cameraman.
Follow me. Frame the shot. Avoid the tree. Get the footage. And someday, while you're up there, bring me an avocado.
Autonomous Camera
Following, framing and filming a subject with less manual control.
Machine Vision
Helping the drone understand what it sees and what deserves attention.
Autonomous Navigation
Moving through the real world safely enough to eventually do more than just carry a camera.
